I Don't Know How Much Time There Is
In 2014, my family adopted a 110 pound, senior dog from the shelter. He quickly, despite our best efforts to not get too emotionally attached, nuzzled his way into our lives and became a beloved member of our family. In this series, titled I Don't Know How Much Time There Is, 2016, I spent almost a month drawing him while he slept. Once he moved, the drawing was done. As a result, each 9.5 x 8 inch, charcoal drawing serves not only as a portrait of him, but also as a portrait of that moment, and to a greater degree, the inevitably short amount of time he would be with us.
Having now passed away, these drawings are my memorial to this goofy and gentle giant.
